President Obama was nicknamed “Black Jesus” by his former senior campaign adviser David Axelrod, according to Edward Klein’s new book, The Amateur (p. 59).

The Obama painting above—entitled “The Truth” by Michael D’Antuono—was scheduled to go on view in New York’s Union Station on the president’s 100th day in office in 2009, but the artist cancelled the showing after receiving a barrage of angry e-mails.
